RESPONSIBILITIES:

SUMMARY: Supports all production/facility equipment during normal operation, performs preventive maintenance on all equipment, and maintains facility in top condition.

DUTIES:
The essential function of this position includes, but are not necessarily limited to, those specifically identified in this description. The Company may, at its sole discretion, add to, change, or expand the essential or marginal functions of this position.

  • Ensure personal safety, food safety and quality protocols are followed.
  • Review the work schedule, check equipment and supplies required to perform scheduled work, and prioritize tasks appropriately.
  • Read and understand blueprints, drawing, and plans.
  • Properly complete all documentation required, i.e., filling out proper requisitions, completing timely and accurate work orders according to process and matrixes.
  • Work closely with other teams to meet priorities and goals while providing input to maintenance leadership on work order scheduling, corrective actions, and possible improvements.
  • Follow departmental procedures for work requests as well as ordering parts and supplies.
  • Must be capable of self-direction and work independently during the maintenance supervisor’s/ manager’s absence.
  • Ability to interact effectively with other departments, peers, and supervisors.
  • Determine min and max parts inventory levels by reducing parts usage through machine PM’s, root cause troubleshooting, analyzing broken or worn parts, etc.
  • Weekend work or overtime will be required as determined by management.

POSITION SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED

General:

  • Understanding of technical language, and the ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Demonstrate understanding of lubrications, greases, and oils for packaging equipment.

Electrical:

  • Read electrical schematics.
  • Perform routine maintenance on and troubleshoot variable frequency drive (VFD); electrical motors including three phase equipment; sensors and various digital and analog input/output (I/O) devices.
  • Understand industrial wiring methods, national electrical code (NEC) standards, international electrical code (IEC) color code, stripping, crimping, etc.

Mechanical:

  • Routinely inspects and maintains building and installed systems including but not limited to, plumbing systems, kitchen equipment, roofs, drains, shop, and grounds.
  • Performs minor and routine repairs including but not limiting to painting, drywall, electrical wiring, and other related maintenance activities.
  • Perform routine maintenance on and troubleshoot hydraulics and pneumatics; conveying equipment; various power transmission equipment such as, bearings, belts, brakes, chains, couplings, clutches, and gearboxes; as well as various pumps, motors, exhaust fans and vacuum systems.
  • Properly use hand tools.
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings and parts breakdowns.
  • Lubricate industrial machinery.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
  • Technical degree in related field preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to do the following:

  • Visual/Verbal/Auditory Acuity: Far sighted/near sighted/color vision; auditory and verbal skills
  • Exposure to Temperature – heat and below freezing temperatures – inside and out
  • Slippery Floors – requires balance and agility
  • Work with and/or around: moving conveyors, various automated equipment, lift trucks, manual equipment, allergens including soy and nut products and airborne powders
  • Perform lock-out/tag-out procedures
  • Tolerate and work at heights of up to 30 ft.

TRAVEL REQUIRED: Less than 5%

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Majority of the amount of work time is spent in a warehouse where temperatures are cool/hot and noise level can be moderate to high.
  • This position is required to wear common protective and/or safety gear, i.e., gloves, face mask, hairnet, uniform, etc.
  • This position is exposed to small particles, odors, and allergens.
